What You’ll Accomplish — Unit by Unit

This course builds your skills one layer at a time — first structure (HTML), then style (CSS), then a bonus taste of interactivity (JavaScript). Units 1–5 map one-to-one to the five exam objective domains; Unit 6 is a bonus capstone. Every unit ends with a hands-on project, so you’re always building something real.

🏠 Project: Build a Webpage
Unit 2

Constructing Webpages with HTML

Fill your pages with real content: inline formatting, quotations, comments, ordered & unordered lists, images and media, links to pages and resources, and data tables.

Unit 4

Combining HTML with CSS

Wire HTML and CSS together — linking stylesheets, class & id selectors, inheritance and the cascade, layout, responsive design, Bootstrap, and debugging.

Unit 5

Advanced HTML/CSS Features

Professional polish — advanced data tables, forms, multimedia, APIs, accessibility & ARIA, advanced selectors, animation, CSS Grid & Flexbox, and reusable components.

A friendly first taste of JavaScript — the DOM, the BOM, events and dynamic CSS, and form validation — ending in an interactive capstone that ties the whole course together.

📊 Objectives at a Glance for 26/27: The HCCS exam now covers 53 total objectives across 5 domains — up from 42 the previous school year. Units 1–5 of this course address all 53, including all 11 new additions: 5 in Domain 1, 3 in Domain 2, and 3 in Domain 5. (A few of the newest theory objectives — such as HTML entities, file organization, web hosting, and performance — are reinforced through the unit projects and the Code Skills Lab as well as the lessons noted above.)
🎓 Your Path to Certification: Every lesson in Units 1–5 is intentionally aligned to the Knowledge Pillars HCCS exam. Do the work, build the projects, and you’ll be prepared — because the skills you practice every day are the exam skills. Unit 6 then sends you off with a taste of JavaScript and a fully interactive capstone.
