Learn Importing Site
If you’ve created a WordPress website on another host or platform, you can easily bring over all your work and continue building your site on a different host or platform. You can also use these directions if you wish to move your site to a host and domain you pay for and manage once your class is over.
Step 1: Go to tools > import. Click install now under the WordPress heading.

Step 2: Click run importer.

Step 3: Press choose file and navigate to the file you want to import. If you just exported the site from another host, it might be saved in your downloads folder. You are looking for a .xml file. Once you’ve found the file, press the upload file and import button.

Step 4: From the drop-down menu, select your account as the import author. Make sure the box next to download and import file attachments is checked. Then press the submit button.

Step 5: It may take several minutes for the site to import, so be patient and don’t click other items until the import is complete. You will know the site has fully imported when you see the message below.

Note: If you get an error while importing, log out of the site by going to Howdy, Student and selecting log out. Close the browser. Reopen the browser and log in to your site. Run the importer again following the previous instructions.
Step 6: Go to appearance > themes to install and activate the theme you used on the previous host. All your pages, posts, and media will import without any problems, but you will need to install and activate the same theme (and customize it as well).
